WorkableNI In‑Work Support: Tailored Support for Deaf People and Those with Hearing Loss or Tinnitus

Navigating the workplace can be uniquely challenging for people who are Deaf or have hearing loss or tinnitus. At Adapt NI, we understand the barriers—and through WorkableNI, we’re here to help individuals stay and thrive in their jobs.
Funded by the Department for Communities and delivered as part of the SES Consortium, WorkableNI provides free, personalised in-work support for people across Northern Ireland.
What does in-work support include?
One-to-one coaching from our Employment Support Officers
Tailored action plans and monthly progress reviews
Deaf awareness training for employers and colleagues
Support with on-the-job training, communication strategies, and confidence building
Advice around reasonable adjustments and assistive tools
Why it works:
In 2023–24, 1,088 people accessed WorkableNI support across Northern Ireland.
Through Adapt NI, individuals received support that respected their communication preferences and individual workplace needs—building long-term confidence and job security.
We work with people in any sector, and support is flexible around your job role, hours, and goals.
Who can apply?
You can access WorkableNI with AdaptNI if you:
✔ Are Deaf or have hearing loss or tinnitus
✔ Work at least 10 hours per week
✔ Have a contract lasting 6 months or more
✔ Live or work in Northern Ireland
